Celebrate these November Events in the Main Line Area

If you can believe, October is officially over, and the holiday season is almost here! No matter how you choose to celebrate in the coming weeks, the Main Line area provides tons of festive events to enjoy.

From charming holiday markets to dazzling light shows, browse through a few of the highlights happening in the Main Line and Philadelphia areas this month. Have fun, enjoy the community, and get ready to ring in the coming holidays and winter season!

Franklin Square Holiday Festival

A close up of a string of lights.Get in touch with your holiday spirit this year at the Franklin Square Holiday Festival! Hosted by Historic Philadelphia, Inc., the festival will feature a dazzling Electrical Spectacle light show with over 75,000 lights, tons of deliciously festive food and drinks, and special events for different days of the week. Some of the activities available include a carousel, a mini golf course, and a holiday train!

Enjoy festive holiday music, warm drinks, and special appearances from Santa himself at this vibrant, bustling city festival. The celebration will be held from November 15th-December 31st from 4pm-8pm and 9pm on the weekends.

Philadelphia Marathon

An overhead view of a runner on a street. This year, the Philadelphia Marathon will be celebrating its 25th year of operation. The 26.2 mile course winds through charming historic districts, scenic waterfront views, and rolling green hills (don’t worry, most of the course is flat terrain) and attracts over 30,000 people from across the world.

Check out a map of the course that’s often listed as one of the top ten in the nation, and come cheer on the runners at this year’s marathon! The race weekend will take place from November 16th-November 18th.

Thanksgiving Day Parade

A marching band on a city street. Did you know that the oldest Thanksgiving Day Parade in the country takes place right here in Philadelphia? Older than the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the 6ABC Dunkin’ Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade will be celebrating its 99th anniversary this year. With special celebrity guests, tons of floats and balloons, and dozens of bands and choirs, the parade brings in thousands of visitors ever year.

This year’s parade will be on Thanksgiving Day, November 22nd, from 8:30am-12:30pm. If you plan on attending, take a look at the parade map to see the route!

Christmas Village

A Christmas marketEmulating the style of the renowned open-air, European Christmas markets, the Christmas Village in Philadelphia features over 80 different vendors. With goods for sale like ornaments, original art pieces, winter apparel, and local food and drink, the market operates daily and features tons of live performances and special events. The Christmas Village is one of the most festive and picturesque holiday events in the country.

The Christmas Village will take place from November 22nd through December 24th in LOVE Park. Take a look at some of the vendors and special events, and plan your visit today!
