Celebrate Independence Day around the Main Line with These 4th of July Events

The Main Line and Philadelphia area played a pretty important part in America’s history…so Fourth of July around here is kind of a big deal! From parades and festivals to food and fireworks, the communities around the Main Line are pulling out all the stops for Independence Day.

Wawa Welcome America

When: June 29th – July 4th

Where: Various locations

What: Wawa Welcome America is a huge, multi-day festival featuring free concerts, outdoor movie screenings, free museum admission, community block parties, multiple fireworks shows, and more. It all concludes on the night of the 4th, with fireworks and live performances from artists like Jennifer Hudson and Meghan Trainor!

Narberth Fourth of July Celebration

When: July 4th, 10am

Where: Narberth Playground

What: The biggest yearly celebration in Narberth—and maybe even the biggest Fourth of July event on the Main Line—the town hosts a day full of activity. The morning starts off with a baby parade, sports contests and games, and a pie eating contest. Then, after a little break, things resume around 7pm with live music and fireworks!

July 4th in Phoenixville

Where: Friendship Field, Fillmore & Franklin Avenue, or Reservoir Park

What: This year marks the 20th anniversary of Phoenixville’s Fourth of July celebration, where you can expect a dazzling fireworks show and on-site vendors (water ice, fries, and other tasty treats will be available).

Patriots in the Park

When: July 4th, 11am

Where: Valley Forge

What: Valley Forge was the site of a major encampment of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War, and the Patriots in the Park event is all about celebrating and remembering that history. Throughout the afternoon, you can enjoy tons of crafts and activities, live demonstrations, guided tours, and more—not to mention a pop-up beer garden!

Garrett Hill-Rosemont July 4th Parade

When: July 4th, 10:45am

Where: Conestoga Rd & Williams Rd

What: Bryn Mawr’s most popular Independence Day event, the Garrett Hill-Rosemont Parade will feature bikes, floats, special characters, and more. After the parade, there will be festivities in Clem Macrone Park, including live entertainment, inflatables and rides, kids’ activities, and food and drink vendors.

Tredyffrin Township’s 4th of July Celebration

When: July 4th, 7:15pm

Where: Wilson Farm Park

What: Over in Wayne, the Chester County Band will be playing a set of lively patriotic music, followed up by a brilliant fireworks show at dusk. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnic blankets and chairs, as well as their own food and drinks—although there will be vendors on-site!

Deck the Halls & Get in the Holly Jolly Spirit with these December Events

While the weather outside may be frightful, these Main Line holiday events are nothing less than delightful! Get ready to trim your tree, deck the halls, and ring in the holiday season in the bustling Main Line area.

If you’re looking for ways to celebrate all of the festivities of the season, there are tons of events going on around Philadelphia and the Main Line. Check out a few of the highlights, and put some of these celebrations on your holiday lists!

Franklin Square Holiday Festival

Holiday lights.Drawing inspiration from the imaginative mind of Benjamin Franklin, the Franklin Square Holiday Festival & Electrical Spectacle Holiday Light Show is a dazzling winter event. With more thank 75,000 twinkling lights, seasonal food and drink, holiday shopping, and festive music, the festival is completely free and lasts for seven weeks.

The main attraction of the show is a 12-foot tall kite that floats over ten feet above the square. A nod to the festival’s inspiration, Benjamin Franklin, the lights on the kite will dance along to the holiday music.

Location: 6th and Race Streets, Philadelphia

Date: November 15th-December 31st, 4:30pm-8pm

A Very Furry Christmas at Sesame Place

The Sesame Street characters on stage.Whether you’re celebrating the holidays with a couple of kiddos or just a big fan of the friends down at Sesame Street, be sure to check out a Very Furry Christmas. The Sesame Place park will turn into a winter wonderland, complete with a Merry Marketplace, a Christmas tree show, and a festive train tour.

The Sesame Street cast will also be celebrating with a few special guests. Expect appearances from iconic holiday characters like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer™, Clarice, and Bumble. Bring your camera along to snag some pictures of this memorable celebration!

Shadybrook Farms Holiday Light Show

A holiday light show.What’s better than a holiday show with one million lights? A holiday show with 3 million lights! With elaborate displays and familiar holiday characters, the Shadybrook Farms Holiday Light Show is a great way to get in the holiday spirit from the warmth of your car. The two-mile long road takes about 20 minutes to complete.

After you complete the drive, grab a cup of hot cocoa and make some s’mores over the warm flames of the bonfire. Don’t forget to grab some treats from the Farm Market, and say hi to Santa on your way out!

Christmas Village Philadelphia

AN open air Christmas market.Taking inspiration from the iconic open-air Christmas markets in Germany, the Christmas Village in Philadelphia is one of the most amazing holiday experiences that the city offers. Try authentic German foods like hot Gluhwein, Schnitzel, and Bratwurst. Then, browse the variety of wares from over 80 local and national vendors!

Throughout the month, the Christmas Village will feature a variety of special events, including many visits from Santa Claus. Make sure you check out newest addition to this year’s village, the Alm Beer Garden!

Nerberth Dickens Festival

A decorated lamppost. Dedicated to celebrating all things Charles Dickens and 1800s London, the Nerberth Dickens Festival is the perfect way to celebrate, 19th century style. The town of Nerberth transforms the streets, and familiar Dickens characters roam the street. Enjoy a variety of period costumes, various live performances, and tasty holiday food and drink.

The festival is perfect for visitors of all ages.  Events include a free scavenger hunt, horse and carriage rides, and a professional ice sculpting displays!

Location: Downtown Narberth

Date: December 2nd, 12pm-4pm
